ChatGPT keeps evolving, and recent updates are a game-changer—especially if you're a busy small business owner. From better organisation tools to an interactive writing space and scheduled reminders, these new features make ChatGPT more useful and personalised than ever.
We asked Jayden Ford, Marketing Advisor at Muritai Group to give us a rundown on how he is using ChatGPT to make his workstreams more efficient, productive and creative.
I use ChatGPT on a paid plan, which gives me access to advanced features—many of which aren’t available on the free version. If you're considering upgrading, this blog will give you a glimpse into what’s new and how these tools have changed the way I use ChatGPT. More importantly, I’ll share how they might help you too!
Organise Your Work By Project!
My favourite feature is one that was very much needed. Keeping track of work, marketing ideas, and ongoing projects can be a headache. That’s why the new Projects feature is such a big win. It allows you to group related chats into dedicated spaces, making it much easier to manage everything in one place.
Why Projects Are a Big Deal:
- Organised Workspaces – You can now keep all related materials in one place for easy access. Group content ideas or business planning into organised folders. No more scrolling through old chats to find what you need!
- File Uploads – You can attach relevant documents directly to your project for quick reference.
- Customised AI Instructions – Set unique guidelines for ChatGPT within each project to ensure responses are tailored to your business.
How I’ve Used It:
I primarily use ChatGPT as a quick brainstorming tool. It’s great at pulling together a comprehensive list of blog topics, content themes, and tactical ideas.
With Projects, I can now keep specific project work in one place and even customise ChatGPT’s responses to match the brand voice for each project. If you manage multiple accounts or projects, this feature is a must.
Canvas: Your Writing Companion
If you write blog posts, website content, or other long-form content, Canvas is a feature you’ll love. It transforms ChatGPT into a live editing tool where you can draft, refine, and tweak content in real time—without needing to copy and paste into a separate document.
What I Love:
- Live Editing – I can now edit the generated text instantly. There's no need to copy and paste into a Microsoft word document—I can type my changes directly within ChatGPT.
- Refinement – I can ask ChatGPT to tweak specific sections, improve clarity, or shift the tone. I can also edit individual sentences and words rather than the entire chat.
How I’ve Used It:
Writing this blog, actually! With Canvas, I could upload my draft ideas, rewrite certain parts, and experiment with different tones. Writing with Canvas feels like having an interactive co-writer rather than just a suggestion tool.
Scheduled Tasks: Set Reminders
Running a business means juggling a million things at once. Scheduled Tasks allows ChatGPT to remember important dates and send reminders—something you may find incredibly useful.
How I’ve Used It:
I tested it by asking ChatGPT to remind me of a client call at 10 AM. Sure enough, I got an email and a chat update right on time. If this feature keeps improving, it could become a handy AI-powered to-do list.
Voice Mode: Talk and Respond
Sometimes, typing isn’t the best way to get things done—especially when you’re on the move. Voice Mode lets you have real-time, spoken conversations with ChatGPT, making it feel more like chatting with a business mentor than using a robot.
What I Love:
-
Multiple Voice Options – You can choose a voice that suits your style.
-
More Natural Conversations – It feels less like an AI and more like a real dialogue.
- Accents and Slang-Friendly – Great for informal chats, making it fun and easy to use.
How I’ve Used It:
I’ve tried it for brainstorming blog ideas out loud—it’s like bouncing ideas off a colleague. I can also see it being useful for hands-free use if I was doing something like cooking or driving, answering questions without stopping what I’m doing.
ChatGPT Keeps Getting Better
These updates take ChatGPT from a simple AI chatbot to a powerful business assistant. For me, they’ve helped streamline my workflow—keeping projects organised, improving content creation, and making it easier to get things done.
If you haven’t tried these features yet, give them a go! You might find they make running your business smoother too. Let me know which one you’re most excited to try!
